The Programme for Improving Pediatric Cancer Care in Vietnam is a result of years of collaboration and effort between leading practitioners, medical hospitals and universities from around the world and throughout Vietnam.
Based at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy (UMP) in Vietnam, this program provides the necessary training and infrastructure to not only enable high quality care for children with cancer, but also establish a cadre of physician-scientists skilled in research and quality improvement methodologies that can move the field forward both inside Vietnam as well as internationally.
Dr. Michelle Hermiston, Associate Director of the UCSF Global Cancer Program, led the development of this fellowship in partnership with leaders at UMP and currently serves as the Fellowship Director and a mentor to the first cohort of fellows. There is a plan to transition leadership of the Fellowship program to graduates of the Fellowship program in coming years.
