First Graduating Class of Pediatric Hematology Oncology Fellows in Vietnam

The UCSF Global Cancer Program congratulates the first ever class of Pediatric Hematology Oncology Fellows in Vietnam! Based at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy (UMP) in Vietnam, this program provides the necessary training and infrastructure to not only enable high quality care for children with cancer, but also establish a cadre of physician-scientists skilled in research and quality improvement methodologies that can move the field forward both inside Vietnam as well as internationally. Dr. Michelle Hermiston has led UCSF’s collaboration with the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City to develop this first national pediatric hematology and oncology training program.

I also would like to thank the patients. They are the silent teachers who have helped us understand more about the nature of the disease, entrusted us with their health, and trained us to be more aware of our responsibilities as doctors.

Dr. Đào Thị Thanh An

A special congratulations to Dr. Đào Thị Thanh An who was the valedictorian for all CK2 (Fellowship) level trainees across all specialties. In her valedictorian speech, she thanked all her Vietnamese and international mentors from UCSF and reflected on her experience.

We congratulate Dr. Đào Thị Thanh An, Dr. Cao Trần Thu Cúc, Dr. Trần Ngọc Huy Hoàng, Dr. Nguyễn Thị Mai Lan, and Dr. Phan Thị Thu Trang on their accomplishments.
