In May 2019, Dr. Alejandro Mohar Betancourt, current head of Mexico's National Institutes of Health (Comisión Coordinadora de Institutos Nacionales de Salud y Hospitales de Alta Especialidad (CCINSHAE)), hosted Dr. Alan Ashworth for Grand Rounds at the Instituto Nacional de Cancerologia (INCan).

This visit builds upon the Global Cancer Program's established partnership with INCan and the Instituto Nacional de Salud Publica (INSP). These partnerships, established in 2018, have enabled further research and projects to expand colorectal cancer screening and adaptation of UCSF genomic technologies to improve pediatric cancer diagnostics.

Dr. Alan Ashworth presented on PARP inhibitors at INCan's Grand Rounds and emphasized the importance of international partnerships to translate laboratory research into advancements in cancer care.
