The UCSF HDFCCC Global Cancer Program (GCP) is pleased to announce the appointment of Li Zhang, PhD, as Associate Director of Biostatistics and Data Science, Global Cancer Program, formally recognizing her longstanding contributions to the program and its global research collaborations.
Dr. Zhang is a Professor in the UCSF Departments of Medicine and Epidemiology and Biostatistics and brings extensive expertise in statistical methods across epidemiologic studies, clinical research, cancer epidemiology, and computational science.
Dr. Zhang has supported GCP since its inception, providing critical biostatistical mentorship and collaboration to investigators and trainees across the program’s international partnerships and serving on the GCP Steering Committee. Over the years, she has helped countless GCP scholars strengthen study designs and analyses, successfully compete for research grants, and translate their work into peer-reviewed publications.
In her new leadership role, Dr. Zhang will guide GCP’s biostatistics and data science strategies, strengthen mentorship and analytic support for trainees, and help expand the use of innovative data science approaches in the development of future GCP research projects and collaborations.
